The Fate of the Pygmies

Title: Hercules: Legacy of the Forgotten
Written by: JCJ
Directed by: Angelina Jolie

LOGLINE:
In a modern mythic retelling set in a turbulent region of Africa, a long-forgotten legacy awakens when a descendant of Hercules emerges to defend the indigenous pygmy communities facing systematic genocide. Drawing on ancient myth and the enduring spirit of resistance, he leads a desperate fight to reclaim dignity, culture, and life itself.

SYNOPSIS:

In a fictional, near-future Africa, political and social chaos have allowed a ruthless regime to rise—a regime determined to erase the existence of the continent’s indigenous pygmy peoples. For generations, the pygmies have lived on the fringes, preserving traditions and lore that recount a time when mighty heroes walked the earth. Among these legends is the ancient tale of Hercules and the pygmies, a myth that symbolizes hope and the possibility of salvation against overwhelming odds.

ACT 1: THE AWAKENING
Amid the devastation wrought by decades of neglect and violent suppression, pygmy communities struggle for survival against an oppressive force intent on their eradication. In secret gatherings around flickering fires, elders pass down the myth of Hercules—a hero who once fought alongside their ancestors.
Unbeknownst to many, a man living in obscurity in a remote village begins experiencing strange visions and extraordinary strength. Marked by destiny and a series of inexplicable coincidences, he slowly comes to realize that he is the reincarnation—or living embodiment—of Hercules, fated to lead his people in their darkest hour.

ACT 2: THE CALL TO ARMS
As the genocidal campaign intensifies, the hero—still struggling with the weight of his newfound identity—emerges to rally the pygmy communities. With deep reverence for their cultural heritage and the ancient tale that has sustained them, he begins training the people in both ancient combat techniques and modern guerrilla warfare.
Interwoven with flashbacks to the original myth of Hercules and the pygmies, the film paints a portrait of a people resilient in the face of annihilation. The hero’s journey is not solely physical; it is also one of inner transformation as he confronts personal doubts and the immense responsibility of embodying a storied legacy. Allies emerge from unexpected quarters—local healers, wise elders, and even former adversaries disillusioned by the regime’s brutality—all uniting under a common banner of resistance and hope.

ACT 3: THE FINAL CONFRONTATION
The climax unfolds in a vast, arid battlefield where myth and modernity collide. In a tense, heart-pounding sequence, the hero leads his newly unified force against the regime’s well-armed enforcers. As the battle rages, the film juxtaposes the timeless heroism of Hercules with the raw reality of modern conflict.
In a series of epic confrontations, the hero’s leadership and valor inspire not only his people but also a broader coalition of oppressed communities across the region. Although the fighting is fierce and the losses are profound, every small act of defiance rekindles the spirit of resistance. Ultimately, the hero makes a monumental sacrifice that turns the tide—forcing the regime to retreat and igniting a global outcry against the atrocities committed.

EPILOGUE:
In the aftermath of the battle, as the land slowly begins to heal, the surviving pygmy communities start to rebuild their lives and honor the memory of those lost. The legend of Hercules is reborn—not as a myth confined to ancient scrolls, but as a living testament to the enduring power of courage, unity, and the human spirit. In a final, moving scene, the legacy of the hero is celebrated in song and ritual, a beacon for future generations determined to preserve their identity and heritage.

  2. Deep in the rainforest, the chainsaws roar like angry insects.

A group of loggers wipes sweat from their foreheads as a massive tree crashes to the ground. The forest canopy trembles. Birds explode into the sky.

    One logger lights a cigarette.

    Suddenly—

    THUNK.

A metal spike slams into the trunk beside his head.

The cigarette falls from his mouth.

    Another spike hits a tree.
    Then another.
Each one driven with impossible precision, forming a circle around the clearing.

    The men freeze.

A voice comes from the shadows.

Out of the jungle steps Solid Snake, camouflage blending into the leaves.

His eyepatch glints in the filtered sunlight.

Snake looks at the fallen tree.

    Then at the machines.

    Then at the men.

“Congratulations,” Snake says quietly. “You found the last habitat of the forest people.”

    One logger scoffs nervously.
“Who the hell are you? Greenpeace?”

Snake walks over and grips one of the spikes embedded in the tree.

“With these spikes in the wood,” he says calmly, “your saws will explode when you cut.”

    The loggers exchange uneasy looks.

    Snake’s voice stays flat.

“You hit one of these at full speed… the chain snaps. Steel shrapnel everywhere.”
    He taps the spike.

    “Could take your face off.”

    Silence spreads across the clearing.

A younger logger whispers, “You’re bluffing.”

    Snake steps closer.

“No. I’m giving you a warning.”

He gestures toward the endless jungle.

“Somewhere out there is the last village of the forest’s pygmy people. They’ve lived here for thousands of years without cutting it down.”

Snake looks at the fallen tree again.

    “You’ve been here three weeks.”

The wind moves through the leaves.

    Snake’s expression hardens.

“Next time you come back with chainsaws,” he says, “there will be more spikes.”

    A long pause.

“And I won’t be here to warn you.”

The loggers stare at the forest.

The jungle suddenly feels very large.

Snake disappears back into the trees without a sound. 🌿🐍
